At k.financeco, we’re all about backing small businesses - and this one is a TRULY special experience.

This time on Kingston Uncovered, we’re heading straight to the ocean - to a place that’s not just about sweating it out, but about reconnecting, restoring, and feeling deeply held. Meet Amy, founder of Seasoul Sauna in Aspendale.

If you’ve ever walked past her set-up on the sand and felt curious, you’re not alone. But after just a few minutes chatting to Amy, one thing becomes clear: this space was built from her heart.

FROM BURNOUT TO BREAKTHROUGH

Amy opened Seasoul Sauna in August 2024 - but the story started long before that. Like many founders, hers came from a deeply personal place.

After years in the corporate world as a Brand Manager for a men’s underwear and sock company (yep, really), Amy found herself dealing with the challenges of PMDD - a severe form of premenstrual disorder that affects mental and physical health. In search of relief, she tried everything.

That’s when sauna entered the picture. At first, it was a casual visit to the one at her local gym. But something about the heat, the stillness, the slow breathing… it clicked. It opened a new pathway to self-care - and later, to community.

She describes it as a mix of healing, nature, and curiosity. A trip to Tasmania sealed the deal, where she experienced sauna right on the edge of wild, natural landscapes. That fusion of calm and wildness is now at the core of the Seasoul experience.

WHAT MAKES SEASOUL SO SPECIAL?

Let’s start with the obvious: location. You’ll find Seasoul right on the beach by the Mordi Sailing Club, where the waves crash beside the sauna and the sunsets do their thing in full view. But Amy’s approach goes deeper than that.

Each session follows a guided three-round process, which helps ease even the most hesitant first-timer into the rhythm.

"You might feel a little apprehensive at first," she says, "but by the third round, people are glowing. That’s where the shift happens."

Unlike typical "in and out" sauna models, Seasoul is about connection - with yourself and the people around you. It’s quiet, intentional, and (yes) sweaty. And it works.

BUILDING A BUSINESS, BUILDING A COMMUNITY

When asked about her proudest moment so far, Amy doesn’t hesitate: consistency.

Sessions are now booking out regularly. The women’s sauna circles are thriving. And while standalone men's sessions didn’t quite take off, men’s nights have become a hit – proving that community just looks a little different across the board.

"There’s a real shift happening," Amy explains. "People are ready for something deeper. Not just fitness – but restoration."

WHY THE CITY OF KINGSTON?

Amy’s local to the area and has always been drawn to the water. Before Seasoul, she taught meditation out of the Mordialloc Sailing Club.

“This stretch of coastline feels like home,” she says.

The community vibe here – relaxed, open, a little under-the-radar – is exactly what Seasoul is built around.

IF SHE COULD SWAP JOBS FOR A DAY...

It’d be with a boutique homestead-style stay. A peaceful, nature-filled escape with soulful design and room to breathe. (Not surprising, right?)

That dream is actually already in motion...

WHAT'S NEXT? ENTER: RIVASOUL

Amy’s next big project is already bubbling away - and it's called Rivasoul. Located in Warburton, it will combine boutique accommodation with the same sauna magic she’s created by the sea.

Think: secluded retreat meets infrared heat meets riverside calm. We’re already packing our bags.

AMY'S LOCAL RECS

We always ask our Kingston Uncovered guests to share their go-to local gems, and Amy’s list is solid:

  • Coffee Chief – for a solid brew

  • 🛍️ Hunter Markets – for awesome second hand clothing finds
